2010 Wyoming success on opening day

Here is a buck that was killed by Truman Madsen up in Wyoming on the general weekend opener. The buck is 27" wide and is a 4x5. Great job Truman! The pictures truly show how big and symmetrical this buck truly is. Cory Palmer joined this hunt as an expert backpacker, Twinkie consumer, and food taste tester.

2009 Opening Morning Success!!!!

This was a buck that I was fortunate enough to kill on opening morning about five minutes after the sun was peaking over the mountains. The snow made things complicated on us. The buck is a 5x5 (including eye tines) and is 24" wide. He is nearly 23" tall and has pretty good mass. I was the only one (out of three) of us that had a tag. When he finally was on the ground...I had two great pack mules (friends) to load up. What a great hunt!

2009 Brian Hinkson Buck

This was Brian Hinkson's (Joe's brother in laws) buck that was killed this year during the 2009 general rifle hunt. We keep telling Brian that he was extremely lucky to bag a buck like this on his first hunt. The buck is a 4x5 and is about 23" wide. Good job Brian and welcome to the hunting insanity!

Park Valley Hunt

Here is a picture from our Park Valley hunt. All four of us got decent bucks. We ALL wished that we would have held off to get larger bucks.

Trent's Buck

Here is a buck that was shot and killed by our friend Trent in Northern Utah. We saw this buck at first light and Trent was able to make a good shot. It took 3 of us to get this buck into the back of my dads truck. This was a nice sized buck. This buck was taken near Park Valley Utah. The buck was 25" wide and was a typical 4 point. I was much skinnier back then!

Here are two bucks that were shot by the Madsens. They were killed in the years of 2004 and 2006 seasons on public land in Northern Utah.

Joe's buck 2007

This buck has a funny story. My mother called my brother and I at about 11:00 p.m. and told Cory and I that Joe was not home from hunting yet. We frantically drove up the canyon and started looking for him. On the trail, we found him coming out packing this beautiful buck on his shoulders. Cory and I were both really jealous. This is a dandy buck. The buck is nearly 26" wide and is a typical 4 point. This picture is Joe with his buck. Unfortunately, he did not have a camera (when he killed the buck) for on the site photos.

2002-2003 Bucks

These two bucks were killed during the falls of 2002-2003. One was killed by my brother Cory and one by me. They are decent bucks that were taken on public land in Northern Utah. These were two decent bucks. We had a great and eventful hunt! 

The Hog

This was a buck that was shot and killed by my dad. This was a buster of a buck. This buck is nearly 26" wide and was taken on public land.

 This buck had several non-typical points. We have named this buck the hog. After the kill, it was un-fortunate that we did not have a scale. We have estimated that this buck nearly weighed 300 lbs. It took 3 people to load him into the truck. The pictures of his neck and body show his true size. The other p

hoto was a collection of the deer that our group killed that year. We were able to harvest some really nice bucks but they look small compared to the hog.

Joe's Buck

This is a buck that was killed by my little brother Joe. This was a nice buck. The buck was over 29" wide and counting the eye tines is a 4x4. He is a dang nice buck. This buck was killed on public land in 2004. They were in a monster of a snowstorm when they killed this beast.

Another Madsen Buck Photo

This was a picture that was taken of another buck that was killed by Dr. Madsen during the 2007 fall deer hunt in Northern Utah. This is another good buck harvested by our friend. Once again, this buck was killed on public land during the regular deer hunt.

Madsen's Muzzleloader Buck

This was a buck that was killed by our good friend Truman G. Madsen. He has hunted with our family for years. He is equally as insane as we are. This buck was taken during the muzzleloader hunt in the fall of 2008. Dang Nice Buck! Dr. Madsen generally goes scouting up in the mountains on a weekly basis. He is a huge asset to our success.

Park Valley hunt- 08

This buck was killed in Park Valley Utah on an early hunt I had.  This buck was 24" and was a 4X4.  He was a decent buck but I needed to rush in bagging him because I needed to get back for school. 

Hunting the Northern Cache Unit Utah

This was a buck that was killed by my brother Cory in Northern Utah this year. This buck won the Al's big buck contest for 2008. The buck is 28" wide and is an 8x7. This is a very nice buck for Northern Utah. This website is dedicated to all of those who hunt Northern Utah with the passion and insanity of my family and others. The Palmer Family/ Madsen family dedicate countless hours in the mountains every year in hope that another monster mule deer will fall. This website is a collection of scouting adventures, photos and hunting success/ failures. I truly have never met people as insane about mule deer hunting as M&P (Madsen and Palmers).
